My role:
Sole product ux/ui designer
Led end-to-end UX/UI design for AS-Trade, a mobile companion app supporting 1,000+ users across sales, inventory, and cash operations for a market-leading B2B software company
Armenia Software is a 38-year-old market leader in Armenia, with 270 employees and 31,000+ business customers, providing business management systems ranging from SMB tools to complex banking and enterprise accounting solutions.
Translating an existing desktop product's operational and financial logic into a coherent mobile experience
Designing within technical constraints set by the development team
Maintaining visual and interaction consistency with Armenia Software's broader five-product mobile suite, including a universal icon system I built and maintained across all products

Project Context:
AS-Trade is the mobile companion app to Armenia Software's established desktop Trade management system. It extends core retail and wholesale operations — sales tracking, inventory/product management, partner (customer/supplier) records, cash desk reconciliation, banking, shift management, and e-invoicing — to mobile devices for roles who need access on the floor or in the field, not just at a desktop terminal.
Problem:
Trade's desktop product was mature and widely used, but the roles who worked away from a fixed terminal — cashiers, on-site sales reps, shop managers — had no mobile equivalent for the operations they needed to perform throughout the day: recording sales, checking stock, reconciling shift cash, reviewing partner accounts.
Goal:
The goal was to design a true mobile-first companion — not a shrunk-down copy of desktop screens — that gave a mix of operational roles reliable, fast access to the same core business functions, while fitting the technical and visual constraints shared across the company's product suite.
User Research:
UX challenge:
Consistency across a growing multi-app portfolio - since Trade was one of five apps I was designing for the same client, decisions here needed to hold up as a reusable pattern, not a one-off
Input came from two structured sources instead:
Ongoing feedback from the support team
support team handle issues from Armenia Software's existing desktop user base and could speak to recurring pain points and workflow gaps
A requirements document
compiled by the support team's director and lead, translating business and operational needs into functional scope
Pain Points
Large agro businesses face three critical challenges:
Connectivity reliability
retail and field environments don't guarantee stable connections, so failure states (e.g. failed data sync) needed to be clear and recoverable, not silent or blocking
Varying user familiarity with dense operational data
screens like cash reconciliation, transactions, and product records needed to serve both power users and less frequent users without adding friction for either
Refining design :
Decisions based on research
Dual navigation views
for the Sections screen, offered as a user-selectable preference rather than a single enforced pattern — accommodating users who scan quickly by icon versus those who prefer dense, scrollable lists
Explicit offline/sync failure state
with a clear error message, retry action, and progress indication, rather than a silent or ambiguous loading state — designed for the real connectivity conditions of point-of-sale and field use
Consistent numeric hierarchy and color coding
(green for credits/positive values, red for deductions/negative values) across financially dense screens — keep them scannable despite high information density
Designing within fixed technical constraints
Rather than treating this as a limitation to push back on, I worked within it to deliver a consistent, cohesive system across all five products

Manage business, analyze sales
Usability Studies :
Methods:
Scenario-based testing
Real users from desktop app, collaborated also with support team
Feedbacks from
calls with support team
Results and Reflection :
AS-Trade has remained in active production for over three years since launch, currently serving 1,000+ users — a meaningful signal of fit and durability for a business-critical mobile tool. It's one of five products in Armenia Software's mobile suite that I designed solo, sustaining a design partnership with the same client for 4+ years.
Impact:
Decreased support calls
Fast growing application real customers
Addition to desktop app that solve problems of user group
What I learned:
Thinking broadly for 5 products and collaborate with technical team from the beginning helps to optimize and decrease development issues and time.
